COVID-19 affects OSAKO’s events for spring

Student union OSAKO ‘s board discussed COVID-19 situation and its effects on student union at board meeting. OSAKO follows instructions of the authorities and Oulu University of Applied Sciences. First and foremost, we want to act in a responsible way putting safety and health first. Considering this there will be some changes at the student union during this spring.

Changes at events in spring

OSAKO board had a discussion about events and trainings during this spring. The events and trainings that were planned for this spring will not be organized like originally planned. OSAKO aims to either move events and trainings to Autumn or organize them remotely. If neither of these options is possible, we must unfortunately cancel. We will also try and come up with creative solutions on organizing new types of events remotely.

There will also be some changes in our office opening hours. We will be a available online, but the office won’t be open like it usually is. We will inform more thoroughly about this when Oamk announces more information about closing the campuses. The Finnish Government announced yesterday on Monday the 16th that the premises of schools, educational institutions, universities and universities of applied sciences as well as civic education and other liberal education institutes will be closed down, and contact teaching will be suspended.

OSAKO continues to follow the situation with coronavirus actively. We will also follow insrtuctions and communication of the authorities and Oamk. Follow the announcements of Oamk at Oiva or at oamk.fi/coronavirus.
