May 23rd OSAKO’s 16th Anniversary & Super Sweet Sixteen Birthday Party

Our dear Student Union has reached the sweet age of 16. Welcome to celebrate our teenager on Thursday, May 23rd!

The celebrations begin with a cocktail party in Gloria at 6:00 pm. The cocktail card costs 15 euros for OSAKO members and actives in other student unions, and 20 euros for others. Dresscode: cocktail.

Please sign up for the cocktail party at the latest on May 19th by emailing to noora.nousiainen@osakoweb.fi. Please mention if you are a member of OSAKO or a student union active. After signing up you’ll receive a confirmation email with payment details.

When the cocktail party ends at 10 pm, the night in Gloria will continue as a Super Sweet Sixteen birthday party. No registration is needed for this afterparty, and the entrance fee is only 3 euros. Dresscode for the afterparty: smart casual.

May 21st OUTDOOR GAME PICNIC

It’s time to get yourself ready for the summer and outdoor game season!

Join us for an outdoor game picnic on Tuesday, May 21st, at 4-6 pm in Hiironen. On the menu croquet, mölkky, football, ultimate and frisbee golf - at least! Take it as an exercise or just relax and enjoy the day.

There’s a frisbee golf course in Hiironen, and the 10 fastest will have a change to take part in a frisbeegolf training at 4:00, free of charge. Anyone with or without previous experience is welcome.

OSAKO will provide the equipment, so all you need to bring is yourself, your friends and some picnic snacks, if you like. Any extra equipment is welcome, of course!

The park has not been reserved for us, so please take the other users into consideration. In case of rain the picnic will be cancelled.

April 30th WAPPURALLY

Welcome to the hottest event of the spring!

On Tuesday, April 30th, the wappu celebrations begin with a checkpoint orienteering around the city at 12 pm-6 pm. Sign up your team (preferably 5-10 persons) before April 26th by emailing to toni.lyytikainen@osakoweb.fi. Please include in your message the name of the team + the name, email address and phone number of the team leader.

The afterparty will take place at the summer theatre in Ainola park at 8 pm. The winner of the checkpoint orienteering and the teacher of the year will be announced at the party. Both orienteering and afterparty are free of charge.

April 27th TRIP TO RANUA WILDLIFE PARK

Welcome on OSAKO’s day trip to Ranua Wildlife Park, the home of brown bears, polar bears, wolves, bobcats, wolverines, and many more.

12:30 Arrival in Ranua

April 9th TAKE IT EASY

Cheer up your Tuesday evening with live music and good company!

Join us for a relaxed evening accompanied with live music on Tuesday 9.4. The laid-back rhytms of the night will be served by Elämän Jani, a local reggae-ish band with a chill attitude.

There's room only for the first 60, so be on time! The event starts at 6 pm and ends at 8:30 pm. Also drinks and snacks will be offered for the first to arrive.

The event is alcohol-free and there is no entrance fee. Organizers: Ev.Luth. congregation and OSAKO.

April 6th SKIING TRIP TO RUKA

Put on your ski boots, Ruka is calling!

No matter if you’re dreaming of the sunny slopes, cross-country skiing tracks or just after ski, make sure you book your seat fast, as with these prices it won’t take long before the trip is sold out! For a return bus ticket, OSAKO members pay only 5 euros and other Oulu UAS students 10 e. Everyone can arrange possible ski passes and equipment rentals in Ruka according to their own needs.

March 16th TRIP TO THE SNOWCASTLE IN KEMI

OSAKO will organize a day trip to the SnowCastle in Kemi on March 16th. The SnowCastle is an enormous complex with a restaurant, bar, hotel and a chapel made entirely out of snow and ice. The castle - with all its architectural details and ice sculptures - is lit with thousands of lights.

Bus will leave from Oulu at 2:30 pm, and we return to Oulu appr. at 8:30 pm. Price for student card holders is only 20 euros, and children are welcomed on board with a considerable discount! The price includes transportation and entrance ticket to the castle.

February 25th SNOW FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

It’s time for the ultimate challenge! Who will celebrate the victory of the Snow Football Tournament this year?

The tournament takes place in Huuhkajanpuisto on Monday 25.2. at 12 pm. See the location of Huuhkajanpuisto here.

Recommended minimum size of the team is 5+1. If you’re feeling victorious, also a team with fewer members can take part. The maximum size of the team is ten players. One match takes 10 min.

February 13th LASKIAISRALLY - SHROVE DAY RALLY

Join this year’s coolest event! Besides the traditional snow sliding team competition, we have a newcomer: Valentine's Day pair-sliding with your special friend! And who knows, you might even slide straight to the hearth of your partner-to-be.

Snow sliding takes place at Välkkylä hill from 17:00 on. Come and present your best outfits and gorgeous snow sliding skills!

We end the night with a huge after-ski party in Gloria at 22-04. Tickets in advance 2 €, at the door 4 €.
