Ice Fishing with OSAKO 16.3.2019
It’s time for one of our very traditional events – ice fishing! OSAKO goes ice fishing every spring. We want to introduce all the international students (and why not the Finnish students as well) to a new side of Finnish culture.
But what is this madness?
Ice fishing, meaning fishing on ice through a hole, is very arctic and very Finnish thing to do. You don’t need any fishing equipment of your own – we’ll take care of that for you. No participation fee either!
Who can participate?
The event is mainly for Oamk students.
When and where?
Saturday 16th of March from 12 pm to 2 pm.
Meeting point: Outside at the main doors of the Sports Hall in the city center (address Rantakatu 15). Map: https://goo.gl/maps/uZLWFQBGVqB2

Why do I need to sign up? There’s is a limited amount of equipment and guidance. We can arrange the event for only 50 participants. BUT – if there is more than 50 people signing up for the event, we will arrange another ice fishing on Sunday 17th of March.
What to take with you?
Wearing warm clothes is essential. Even if the day isn’t very cold, it’s going to be windy on the ice. It is always better to have too much clothes than not enough. It’s especially important to keep your feet warm and dry. Wear winter boots, as we’ll be walking in snow.
Take also something to sit on or to have under your knees while fishing. A thermos bottle of something hot to drink might be a good idea, too.
If you have any questions, contact Máté Gulyás (firstname.lastname@example.org). See you on the ice!
