International team X aurora borealis
maaliskuu 20 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
OSAKO is organizing the next international team on Wednesday March 20th. This time we have a very special theme – we are joining a public lecture about aurora borealis, northern lights!
What are auroras? How are those produced and where? Our lecturer is a Spanish scientist called Antonia Ferriz, and he will be giving us an one hour lecture about auroras. The lecture is down to earth and totally on an outreach level for everyone. AND – if the weather is good and clear, we might also visit the Linnanmaa astronomical observatory and observe the stars.
The lecture will be at University of Oulu, at Linnanmaa, in their main campus. Organizers from OSAKO (Elli and Máté) will help you go to Linnanmaa if you haven’t been there before. You have two options:
- You take the bus with Elli. Single ticket costs 3,30 euros, if you don’t have a season ticket.
- You go there by bike with Máté. Máté will lead the group of people going there by bike.
In either way: let’s meet in front of the OSAKO office at 16.10 (4.10 pm). If you go to Linnanmaa independently, the meeting point is at the main entrance of the University exactly at 16.50 (4.50 pm).
The lecture begins at 17.00 (5 pm) sharp, so do not be late.
Press attending if you are coming, so that we know how many people are participating. We want to have a lecture room big enough for our group.
